In-Home Services
Our counselors use the Functional Family Therapy model focusing on the role of all family members to ensure that the family progress continues after the counselor leaves the home.
Family Assessment
The CS In-Home worker conducts a thorough family assessment to guide all interventions. This evaluates the overall home environment to identify family strengths, obstacles, economic situation, mental health issues, and both safety and risk factors. From this assessment a Family Service Plan is developed to highlight the most effective strategies and interventions.
Parenting Training
A primary emphasis of the in-home intervention is to work with the parent(s) to learn new methods to effectively motivate, discipline, and guide the children living in the home. In-Home Counselors draw upon a variety of parent resources to guide the intervention and teach more effective parenting strategies.
Economic Stability
Without economic stability in the family it is virtually impossible to move forward in confronting family problems. For this reason, the counselor first focuses on ensuring the family has housing stability, parents are gainfully employed or moving toward employment, and that the family can meet its nutritional needs. This includes working with parents in the area of financial management to establish a basic budget and family spending priorities.
Educational Support
The counselor serves as a liaison between the school and the home. The overriding effort is to ensure the family is doing everything possible to encourage optimal academic performance. Effective systems are developed to enhance study habits leading to better grades and ultimately graduation.
Safety In The Home
In-Home sessions include putting in place safety mechanisms to eliminate the causes of domestic violence in the home between parents and children. Parents learn new ways to control anger and react to stressful situations in a non-violent manner. The entire family learns positive methods to communicate effectively and solve problems before they escalate.
Mental Health Care
Clinical supervision is provided by a licensed therapist to ensure the mental health needs of all family members is addressed. The CS network of mental health professionals is available to assist in medication evaluation, psychological testing, and ongoing individual therapy.
